In Good Hands....

At North Rand this weekend, we held our annual Leaders Retreat.

It was a time for focusing on the year ahead and an opportunity for our leaders to dream for 2009.

It is amazing how the Lord has assembled a wonderful, committed and gifted group of people to lead the church this year.

My prayer is that all our members, and anyone who reads this blog, will uphold them in prayer.

As Paul says:

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Ephesians 6:10-12

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Ephesians 6:13-18

I had a dream last night. I dreamt that there were two quite small snakes that were scaring my children. I chased them away. Then a third came and it was a cobra. I knew it was poisonous and I wanted to panic. I sent one of the kids to fetch a spade and I chopped at its neck. I expected a long battle with it, but to my surprise I killed it first go.
I don't usually remember my dreams, so I wondered about this one. No reason to dream about snakes. Then I remembered this blog and some of my thoughts over the last few months along the lines of those Bible verses.
I reckon my dream was God saying that Satan will come. But if we stand against him with determination God will win the battle - maybe even before it seems to have started.
What do you think?

Just to say that we also spoke on the Leaders Retreat about milk and meat.
Meat being the ability to discern between good and evil.
I think you're spot on.
Being on the front line of mission - you're going to come under attack. Keep putting on the armour of God.
Bless you.
